The ducks are thrilled to be able to drill their bills into the soft earth and to splash and wash in the puddles this morning. The chickens are all out happily picking and pecking about in their muddy yard. The sheep are bleating for more hay, but they don't really need it because it is so mild....like a late March day. The farmer would prefer that all that snow that swirled down upon us earlier in the month still be here. But such is the fickle finger of Lady Weather. My fine hens laid a baker's dozen of eggs for me yesterday. Maybe this warm air will spur them on to laying even more today.
On Christmas Eve, we had a lovely visit at Mary Ellen & Ron's annual open house. Great Eats!! Perhaps the best fish chowder I've ever had (guess I didn't try it last year). Ron's secret ingredient is ...dulse (oops! don't tell anyone you read it here.) MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
