Egg Report

Today, St. Stephen's Day, is much colder, rather blustery and some snow was flurrying earlier while I was doing my animal chores. The warmer weather of Christmas Day did not encourage the hens to lay more eggs. Au contraire, most of them seemed to take the day totally off, as by dusk I had gathered only six eggs total. They, the hens, must have tapped into the collective unconscious of thousands of relaxing humans and decided to do likewise. The ducks and goose were slipping with their webbed feet on the lightly snow-covered ice of the puddles they were splashing in yesterday. The sheep will be happier today as they will get more hay.
